New York Financial Regulator Hiring Blockchain Analyst to Combat Crypto Crimes
The New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) is seeking a senior blockchain analytics analyst to bolster its efforts against financial crimes, including money laundering, within the cryptocurrency sector. This position, with a starting salary of $84,156, can be based in New York or Albany, with additional compensation for those in the New York City metro area.
The role requires at least one year of experience in the crypto industry, blockchain analytics proficiency, and knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) regulations. The analyst will assess risks linked to DFS-regulated virtual currency firms and identify suspicious activities that may require further investigation.
NYDFS established its virtual currency unit in 2015 to enforce the BitLicense framework for crypto businesses, but the office recently faced criticism from the New York State Comptroller for gaps in its oversight, urging improvements in cybersecurity and financial sustainability.
